The GSMA welcomed the Mexican government’s decision to reduce spectrum use and exploitation fees by 12%, as outlined in the 2027 Economic Package, which sets out the federal government’s revenues and expenditures.
“For the GSMA, the decision by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit to orient fiscal policy toward promoting investment and connectivity is positive news for the industry and the country. Recognizing spectrum as a tool for inclusion and innovation is a step toward modern and efficient management of this resource,” the organization said in a statement.
The organization also welcomed the proposal to offset spectrum fees in exchange for coverage obligations in geographic areas, highways or roads.
