Tangherlini, who had been serving as vice minister of Family Farming Development and Agricultural Infrastructure and Irrigation, replaces Rafael Rey, who resigned citing health issues less than two months after his appointment, while already serving in Keiko Fujimori’s cabinet.

Tangherlini Casal holds a degree in Economics from the National University of San Marcos and a master’s degree in Finance from ESAN University. He also completed master’s studies in Economics, specializing in Economic Development, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

The new head of the MTC is an economist with experience in public administration, infrastructure, public services and agricultural sector development. He also has professional experience in research and economic studies related to public services, transport infrastructure regulation, public-private partnerships and the agricultural sector.
