Cantv passed US$ 0.29 dividend-per-share allocation

In a shareholders¿ meeting, Verizon unit announced ordinary dividend allocation in cash of US$ 0.29 per share. Per American Depositary Share (ADS), equal to seven papers, dividends reach US$ 2. The measure includes holders registered to April 13th, and payments will start on the 16th of the month. Cantv made US$ 19 million last year, 65% less than in 2002. In December, the company cancelled the dividend in cash of US$ 0.18 per share and cut the total number of shares in the firm in 15%.

Verizon holds a stake of 28.5% in Cantv, and Telefonica keeps a 6.9%, while the rest of the capital is split in Venezuelan Government (6.6%), retired people, and workers (10%) and minor holders (47.8%).
