Telmex will keep its rates frozen during 2005

The Carlos Slim company confirmed that it will not increase its basic telephony services for the next year.  Telmex has kept its rates frozen for four years, that in real terms means a low accumulation of 15%.  The basic service represents 45% of the total company earnings, that concentrates 95% of the local market with 16.91 million lines.

On the other hand, Telmext confirmed that in December it will end investments for US$ 210 million in a rural telephony program that will benefit 1.76 million inhabitants of 1,304 towns.
