Antel to launch cell micro payment in April

When it concludes the implementation of its text message infrastructure, Antel will launch a new service that will allow its users` to make small purchases through the cell. It is estimated that, starting April, Ancel`s mobile users will be able to purchase low cost articles like cigarettes, sodas, and movie entrances through the cell. It deals with a “micropayments” service that forms part of a bigger project of “mobile commerce”. Marcelo Ehrlich, executive at Ancel, explained that “micropayments” program was thought of so clients could purchase low cost articles around US$ 4, with a maximum of US$ 40 in some specific cases”. For example, Ancel`s users enters a commerce and, informs that she/he will pay with their Ancel. Through a text platform, an SMS is sent on behalf of the commerce to validate that the client has the sufficient credit, once approved the user and the commerce is notified that the transaction could be carried out. If it deals with prepaid, it will automatically be debited from the user’s credit. On the other hand, by contract, the bill will have a detail of the transaction and the debit.
