Tigo to bet on wireless broadband in 2006

The operator Millicom announced that it will invest US$ 26.4 million in its management 2006, although its president Antonio Tavel, explained that the figure could be soon increased. According to Tigo's head, the money will be use to add capacity, extend coverage, and incorporate new services, among which he stood out the company's interest in offering wireless broadband. As regards the local mobile call rates, Tavel speculated that they will take the same way as with international calls, that went down significantly as from December, when the market opened for the competition. The executive rejected that Tigo was for sale in Honduras after speculating in an alleged interest of América Móvil in purchasing the company's shares.
