In a talk with Convergencialatina, Pat Walshe, former director of Privacy Matters of the GSM Association (GSMA) and current director of Privacy Matters, reflected on the current status of the discussion on privacy and protection of personal data on mobile platforms. He said a user of Android operating systems can not feel safe and personally prefers being in iOS. And he called for regulators in Latin America to avoid looking to Europe as an example at the regulatory level on the subject, because the old continent is a sort of "collage" of 28 different frames (one for each country in the European Union): the expectation of an actual change for Europe is in the review of the E-Privacy Directive, which will be ready by 2018.
