MinTic ensures tax reform not to endanger Vive Digital Plan goals

The new tax burdens could become an obstacle to reach the 27 million broadband accesses in 2018. To cushion the impact, the MinTic managed that digital software and services be exempted from taxes and promotes the growth of digital economy.

The Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTic) reported that in the third quarter of 2016 there were a total of 15.1 million broadband accesses - accounting for fixed accesses with download speeds equal to or greater than 1 Megabyte and 3G and 4G mobile connections per subscription - with a penetration of 31%. Broadband grew 1.5% compared to the second quarter and 23.3% compared to the third quarter of 2015. Of total subscriptions, 61% correspond to mobile accesses and the remaining 39% to fixed accesses. In the inter-annual comparison, 4G connections grew 91%.
