The case of La Rioja Telecommunications: intense laying of fiber to the home, self-financing and more investments

The need for fiber in access appears as a common denominator in the agenda of SME and cooperative operators in view of the new stage of convergence. If small players were pioneers in developing FTTH, that differential will be even more important to face the new rhythm of competition in which big groups will push the goal of reaching 2020 with a 20% penetration.

The game is open to, in different degrees and roles, as Telecomunicaciones SAPEM. The most significant case is that of La Rioja Telecomunicaciones, which will begin migrating customers of the microcenter of the capital city -delimited by the four main avenues of the city, about 150 blocks- to FTTH.
