Echostar stops fine imposed by IFT on association with Dish and Telmex

The US company was awarded an injunction against a fine of US$559,767 imposed thereon by the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) (Telecom Regulator) in 2015 for being involved in a prohibited alliance between Dish and Telmex. The regulator had sanctioned the companies for having carried out a concentration without having notified the IFT. This is the fifth time IFT fines have been revoked by the Judicial Branch: In December, it revoked sanctions that had been imposed against TV Azteca and Televisa; in January of this year, it annulled a sanction against Telefónica Movistar and another for Megacable.
