The geopolitics behind Costa Rica's National Cybersecurity Strategy

After a cyberattack in April 2022, the Central American country issued its National Cybersecurity Strategy, relaunched its CSIRT and excluded Chinese providers from the 5G tender.

In mid-April, two years had passed since the Russian ransomware group Conti launched a cyberattack against Costa Rica. The incident had a profound impact on subsequent national cybersecurity regulation, and its geopolitical component currently shapes the progress of 5G in the country.
