Entel’s D2D proposal shakes up the regional landscape

It is the first service of its kind in the Latin American region. It uses the 1,900 MHz band with a 5 MHz bandwidth and is supported by the 650 Starlink LEO satellites operating over Chilean territory.

At a time when Direct-to-Device (D2D) service has become one of the main drivers of research and investment for mobile and satellite network operators, the Chilean operator Entel announced the launch of its service in partnership with Starlink, the first of its kind in Latin America and one of the few commercially operational services in the world.
