The 7,125–8,400 MHz band is emerging as favorable due to its contiguity with the upper portion of the 6 GHz band. There is also interest in the 14.8–15.35 GHz block. Within Citel, eight administrations have developed preliminary positions and have called for the process to be concluded at the ITU. Discussions are also progressing on interference issues affecting D2D services over IMT.

The World Radiocommunication Conference 2027 (WRC-27) will be held in Shanghai, China, from October 18 to November 12, with four agenda items related to mobile services. These include the identification of candidate bands for IMT-2030/6G, for which sharing and compatibility studies with other frequency bands are currently under way. The process will conclude with the first drafts of the Conference Preparatory Meeting (CPM-27), expected around October 2026.
