Plans to tax digital platforms ruled out for now

Panama’s Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has ruled out presenting, for the time being, a bill that would have applied the ITBMS tax to digital services and platforms such as Netflix, Uber, Airbnb and other applications. Economy and Finance Minister Felipe Chapman said the initiative has not been submitted and there are no plans to take it to the National Assembly in the short term, as the government is evaluating opinions and concerns expressed by the public.
