Bolivia seeks to end its Mediterranean condition through Peru

The next enabling of its connection with the submarine cables of the Pacific is the first step. The use of the Peruvian port of Ilo and the bioceanic train project are also advancing. China sounds like one of the investors interested in the construction of the railway section, which would link the Brazilian coast with the Peruvian coast by 2030, with an estimated investment of US$14 billion. Meanwhile, state-owned Entel Bolivia is venturing into the supply of services in southern Peru.

Telecom posts 13.4% increase in consolidated sales in first half

The operator posted a US$410 million profit in the first half, partly boosted by foreign exchange gains. Consolidated revenue totaled US$3.385 billion, up 13.4% year on year. It ended the period with 19.4 million mobile accesses, down 7.1%, and 4.2 million broadband accesses, up 2.7%. The results included Telefónica’s contribution.

The digital Caribbean: Connectivity's bright spots and challenges in a fragmented region

According to the GSMA, 5G connections will account for nearly a quarter of mobile connections by 2030, although they will be concentrated in three territories: Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. The association says a more conducive regulatory environment is needed to consolidate the telecommunications modernization process.
