Banks lost US$ 40.5 million from cyber-attacks in 2019

Nine events were recorded this year for that amount, Banxico (Banco de México) reported through its Financial System Stability Report. The source said the attackers exploited vulnerabilities in ATM infrastructure, investment banking, mobile banking, a correspondent and a link to the processor.

The most important impact took place in May through investment banking and caused a loss of US$ 23.9 million.
