América Móvil's earnings increased 44.6% in the third quarter

At the end of the confinement in most of the countries, there was a rebound in commercial activity that allowed an income improvement of 4.7%.

During the third quarter of this year, the América Móvil company achieved profits for a total of US$ 894 million, representing a 44.6% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. In that period, revenues totaled US$ 12.331,6 billion, a 4.7% increase compared to the same quarter of 2019. These positive results were basically produced by the lifting of confinement measures in most of the countries where it is present with its operations, which allowed a rebound in commercial activity.

At constant exchange rates, service revenues increased 1.5% (up from 0.8% in the previous quarter and those from the mobile platform increased to 3.5% from 2.3% in the last quarter.)

The company's EBITDA reached a total of US$ 4.098 billion in the third quarter, a 10.1% increase compared to the same period last year. The company's debt at the end of September was US$ 28.885,4 billion.

It should be noted that all comparisons at constant exchange rates for consolidated figures of América Móvil exclude Argentina due to its inflationary process, to guarantee the consistency of the data.

At the end of September, the company registered a total of 361.67 million accesses, of which 280.72 million correspond to mobile accesses and 80.95 million to fixed ones.

In the third quarter, total mobile accesses represented a 0.7% increase compared to the same date last year, which includes 1.8 million net earnings in the postpaid system and 1.4 million net earnings in prepaid. The highest growth rates were achieved in Brazil, with 6.3% and Colombia, with 4.7%. The greatest decreases were verified in Peru, with a decrease of 9.2%; Ecuador, with 7.1% and Central America, with a decrease of 4.9%.

In the fixed telephony segment, the total of 80.95 million accesses at the end of September represented a 0.9% decrease compared to the same month last year. However, the addition of 446,000 new customers in the fixed broadband sector stood out and increases were verified in all operations except Austria and Croatia. In the Pay TV segment, 243,000 disconnections were registered during the quarter and in fixed telephony the total dropped by 242,000 lines.

The largest increases in fixed accesses were recorded in countries where operations began recently, such as Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, with a growth of 35.3% (1.38 million accesses) and Peru, with an increase of 13.3% (1.78 million accesses. The greatest decreases were verified in Brazil, with 4.3% (32.95 million accesses) and Central America, with a decrease of 3.6% (4.22 million accesses.)
