For Intel, Edge Computing is foundational to be ready for 5G

During his presentation at Ribbon Perspectives18, Vince Curella, Sales Director of the Intel Data Center area, considered that Edge Computing is foundational for the development of 5G and assured that it is not the replacement of the cloud, but it enables improvements in the latter. Every element of the network, from devices to access, is adopting "cloud like" models, virtualization and automation, as tools to achieve diligence, scale and cost efficiency in an increasingly complex data circulation environment. To accelerate the changes and for both companies and operators to take advantage of business opportunities, Curella considered it essential to bring data processing to the devices.
