49.2% of the world's population will be online by the end of 2018

This is foreseen in "The State of Broadband" report of the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development. The percentage is equivalent to about 3,8 billion people. As for the total number of active mobile broadband subscriptions, they will reach 4,4 billion at the end of 2018, compared to 3,3 bn at the end of 2015.
