Silica Networks to build the last stretches of the Austral Fiber Optic

The Subtel (Undersecretary of Telecommunications of Chile) awarded Silica Networks, belonging to the Datco Group of Argentina, the construction of the deployment of the last two terrestrial trunks (Aysén and Los Lagos) of the Austral Fibra Óptica (FOA) project. The subsidy allocated for the Aysén project was US$ 6.188,470 and for the Los Lagos project US$ 2.608,510.

Yessika Salazar, Country Manager of the Datco Chile Group, told Convergencialatina that they expect to finish the work before the end of 2020 and that it will have redundancy with Argentina. The underwater part of the project will be inaugurated in September and was built by Comunicación y Telefonía Rural, together with Huawei Marine.
