Telcel launched a new geo-localization system of mobile telephony users

Telcel launched Ubikamigo, a new service that enables to know the geographical location of mobile telephony users within the country. The service is available through SMS, MMS, the Ideas Web portal and the WAP portal of Telcel, and it costs US$0.24 through SMS, US$0.48 through MMS, US$0.47 through WAP portal and US$0.023 through Ideas Telcel portal.

In order to know the location of any user, a previous authorization is required in order to reveal the approximate location. In this way, a link is established between users so that they can be located at any time.

5G contracts progress as ICE raises additional concerns

The Comptroller’s Office has given the green light to the contracts signed by the six operators (two national and four regional) to begin the deployment of 5G. The state-owned ICE plans to take legal action if Sutel does not approve its agreement with Racsa to provide fifth-generation mobile phone service.
