Comcel and Telmex to be merged

After a year and a half of a corporate structuring and organization process, Comcel and Telmex Colombia are about to take the first step towards the unification of brands under the same name.

The integration process started in December 2010, when Comcel kept 93.26% of Telmex Colombia, in an operation valued in US$820.75 million.

The experts have agreed on the fact that this operation will certainly benefit the users of the company, initially, with a higher services coverage and then with a convergent product supply.

According to the Connectivity Report of December 2011 of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), Comcel has 33.7 million voice customers and 560,000 mobile Internet customers, and Telmex, 670,000, fixed telephony users, 850,000 Internet users, and 1.8 million pay TV subscribers.
