Nextel launches solution to provide service in places with no coverage

The company Nextel presented Prip Wi-Fi, a system developed by Motorola that allows users the possibility to communicate through a Wi-Fi network. With this solution, customers of the Argentine operator will not be left without coverage in the United States after Sprint Nextel  migrates technolgy I-DEN to 3G next July 1st.

"The service allows us to extend the radio coverage area to anywhere in the world, and even to unusual places, where our customers have Wi-Fi connectivity," said Osvaldo Guani, Operational Marketing Manager of Nextel Argentina.

The tool has no activation fee or monthly fees associated and its use follows the same rates regime than that of radio through the network.

Prip Wi-Fi equipment will be available for Motorola i867, i867w, Ferrari i867, i940 and Ironrock. To access the application, first an update that is activated from "self-management" in the Nextel website shall be downloaded.
