As stated in the Resolution No. 7/13 published yesterday in the Official Gazette, the Ministry of Communications (Secom) formalized ISDB-T for digital television "in order to achieve a high standard of quality and technological level."
Among considerations mentioned that the country signed the "Declaration of Montevideo", at the Second Intergovernmental Conference on Digital Terrestrial Television in May, where several countries in the region committed to expanding open Digital Television.
"While the standard came into use after UNASUR’s summit where officials decided to adopt the ISDB-T norm, it lacked a formal order," said Osvaldo Nemirovsci, head of the Advisory Board of Digital Television, to Convergencialatina.
In addition, the Advisory Council recommended to the Secom, through Joint Act No.2 signed on 27 June, TVs with integrated digital receiver should have the "Ginga middleware".
Therefore, in the same resolution, approved techniques for the development of TVs with an integrated digital receiver. "Currently throughout the world there are no TVs with Ginga, so we recommend establishing the integrated receiver to the TV for all to contain the "middleware", which would create a standard in all devices," said Nemirovsci.
Among technical specifications establishes TVs to tune up to UHF channel 51, so that the 700 MHz band will only be used for mobile phones.
