The Superintendencia General de Electricidad y Telecomunicaciones, Siget (Superintendence of Electricity and Telecommunications) announced through a press release that Mediafon will finally be in charge of number portability, in association with then Salvadoran Imcard.
Mediafon is the operating entity in charge of portability in Russia, with 498 million telephone numbers, besides Moldova, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Tunisia and Georgia.
Operator switch will be for free for users both of fixed and mobile telephony. In addition, the company to which the tender was awarded, promised to fulfill the phone company switching process in one day for mobile phone lines and three for fixed lines.
