Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia merger strengthens outlook of European telecommunications

Both companies together outweigh Huawei and are second in the market for mobile equipment behind Ericsson. The question is whether Europe can accommodate two leading specialty firms. And if the union is helpful for converged communications where the business migrates to content.
