This is the 123 channels that Radio Centro could not access for not raising the money for the auction. The Radio Spectrum Unit of the Federal Technology Institute (IFT, for its Spanish acronym) reported to the plenary the availability of channels. This time the auction will be conducted by an independent and regional concession scheme.
The regulator determined that the tender will be held in the first half of 2016, but the corresponding pre bidding will be subject to public consultation in the fourth quarter of this year.
Now the auction will be held in different areas of coverage, and this time will seek additional areas, including the largest population of the country. It will also be the possibility to conform television systems, either as individual stations or chains.
The IFT agreed that coverage areas will be available for digital broadcast television services, resulting from the process of reorganization of the 600 MHz band in which today over 200 television channels operate, will be included in the Annual Program of Use and utilization of frequency bands 2016, which means that the 123 channels will be available to the market, for commercial, social or public use.
