Telmex cut 1,300 posts in Embratel

According to the Labor Union of Empresas de Telecomunicaciones (Sinttel), Embratel has dismissed 1,300 workers of Embratel. The number of layoffs accounts for 8% of the payroll. Telmex, controller of the firm, admitted internal reorganization, but made no confirmation on labor cut numbers.

José Zunga, President of Federación Interestatal de los Trabajadores de Telecomunicaciones (Fittel), is to meet Carlos Moreira, President of Embratel, to negotiate re-integration of employees dismissed. According to Zunga, the entity is to resort to the Communications Ministry and Anatel shall negotiations with the firm fail. However, Embratel has not confirmed the meeting with the union leader
