Third free to air private channel to be tendered in May 2017

The  Autoridad Nacional de Televisión (ANTV) (Television Regulator) reopened  as planned, the process for incorporation of a third free to air private channel in the country. It explained that stakeholders can register as from May 11 in the Single Register of Operators and that award will take place a year later. ICT Minister, David Luna, dismissed the version that them new channel operates in Channel Canal Trece frequency and added that so far there are no stakeholders registered to participate in the tender. Interested parties may not have more than 40% of foreign participation, the official said.

With respect to Canal Uno, the entity decided - supported on a technical study- that "it is feasible and offers more advantages to have a single licensee". He added that in June the call will be opened and the award will take place in October this year. So far there are eight bidders: Colombiana de Televisión, NTC Colombia, Jorge Barón Televisión, Spotsat, Televideo, Programar, RTI and Compañía de Medios de Información.
