II Jornadas y Exposición Internet Day 2016

Arsat president talked about government plans with ISPs

At the close of Internet Day 2016, Rodrigo de Loredo talked about the official plan to connect 1,200 locations. But he also appealed to beneficiaries, with the low cost of Internet (US$ 18 per Mbps) of the Federal Fiber Optic Network, to improve the quality of the last mile, so that the user also receives improvements. Loredo said that those who are within the 15,000 kilometers of fiber that are already operating will be able to start using the connection in two or three months. And said that they will not discriminate against anyone, whether a small or a big telco. As an alternative, the official pointed out that due to the lack budget for provincial networks this year, those that are underway, and others with agreements signed, does not yet know whether in 2017 would advance with these layings.
