Stefano de Angelis brought to Futurecom main stage its plans for the operator, after replacing Rodrigo Abreu as CEO in May. He acknowledged that Tim became leader of the post-paid segment due to convenience and quality, but since 2016, the network quality decreased: to take up that pathway, bets will be made on efficiency, with a new results-oriented culture; leadership in fixed and mobile ultra broadband; and as regards supply, a recovery of the position in postpaid.
"There are talks in general of a boundary between the mobile and the fixed world. In the coming months, this border between the fixed ultra broadband and the mobile ultra broadband market will no longer exist or will be reduced. There will be a difference between personal and residential broadband", anticipated the executive. In line with this, Tim will boost an offer for residential broadband over 4G network (WTTx) which will allow comprehensive coverage, capacity, performance and stability of the network. This view -similar to that of T-Mobile in the United States will be implemented through 700 MHz, nationwide.
De Angelis acknowledged that the model based on prepaid for use -most Tim customers chooses the use per day, the plan Infinity- affected Tim operation because of its greater volatility in contexts of economic crisis. "We seek to improve mobile services value proposal, leaving behind the one fits all "model" and replacing it with one aimed at customers, at offers, at the country. It should be recaledl that Tim still has more than 20 million customers who only use voice", he said. Among other measures, Tim will make a regional approach for addressing business strategies, selectively by region, with special offers and differentiated content.
Along with these Tim projects, will in the upcoming months the approval process of the new regulatory framework for telecommunications will take place in Brazil. In dialogue with Convergencialatina, De Angelis considered it will have a very significant impact on the local market, especially for fixed services licenses, but the operator pays attention to what may impact on the fixed ultra broadband. "We will need spectrum", he warned. Also, the executive endorsed the advances given by Juarez Quadros on the new agenda of Anatel, in particular on the new indicators on perceived quality.
