The Mexican company Telmex has officially began to offer wireless broadband plans through WiMax. The offer is available in the cities of Santiago, Concepción, Talcahuano, Curicó, Iquique, La Serena, Coquimbo, Linares, Ovalle, Rancagua, Talca, Temuco, Valdivia, Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. Within the next weeks, the service will be launched in Calama, Osorno, Puerto Montt, Requinoa and Punta Arenas. For year’s end, Telmex`s WiMax service will be available in 91% of the towns throughout Chile, including Isla de Pascua. Telmex invested US$ 15 million in its WiMax network, foreseen for Alcatel-Lucent.
