Movilnet expands signal to the border with Colombia

The cellular operator of CANTV started up a new radio base with 1x technology in the town of Cararabo del Meta, in the State of Apure. The new cell will cover border posts of the National Guard and of the Army, and will offer residents` access to voice communications, data and wireless fixed telephony. The cell is added to the one already installed in Puerto Infante, in the same State.

According to Movilnet, the incorporation of two more stations in San Carlos del Meta and Buena Vista del Meta, also in Apure are foreseen. During 2006, Movilnet installed 210 cells throughout the country.
