Cablevisión could offer DTH

The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) draw a draft decree obliging Cablevisión operators in the country to migrate their UHF services coded in the 512 MHz band to the 698 MHz band. In exchange thereof, the company is authorized to provide satellite television services. The director of Telecommunications of the MIEM reported that the draft decree is under review stage. At present there are cable operators who have permission to provide satellite service in the interior, as long as they are rural areas where other technologies do not arrive.
