Public consultation to regulate the use of blank spaces starts

The Secretariat of Information and Communications Technologies consulted the "Draft regulation of shared use with allocation on a secondary basis of the frequency band from 470MHz to 698MHz." There it is established that the licensees of ICT services or private users may use the frequency prior notification to the National Communications Authority, in locations of less than 100.000 inhabitants. Enable point-to-point or point-to-multipoint modalities - not mobile devices - and charging will be manual. Users can add up to 4 adjacent and 4 non-adjacent channels.

According to the draft regulation, the regulator will develop a database in less than a year to allow dynamic spectrum allocation.

Companies such as Microsoft, Redline, Radwin and Facebook are interested in this spectrum allocation that is open, that is, free, as reported by Convergencialatina last August, when the DSA (Dynamic Spectrum Alliance) organized a meeting to promote this technology. In the country, it is also supported by the Guru Group, an association of agricultural producers that drives a rural connectivity highway.
