In January Government to announce measures to unlock investments in telecommunications

The Brazilian government plans to announce during the first days of next January a package of regulatory measures to unlock investments in the telecommunications and Internet of Things (IoT) sector, according to the executive secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), Julio Semeghini.

The measures included in the package are: a) presidential decree that will regulate the Telecommunications Law; b) resolution of the MCTIC that will establish conditions for the licensees who choose to change the regime of provision of fixed telephony services towards the authorized system; c) Ministerial resolution that will establish public policy for 5G; d) presidential decree that will establish the conditions of the right of passage of pipelines; e) minutes of the Bill for the use of Fondo de Universalización de las Telecomunicaciones, FUST (Telecommunication Universalization Fund) resources.
