The counselor Campelo defends the automatic renewal of spectrum licenses

The director advisor of the Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency), Emmanoel Campelo, defended the possibility of a presidential decree authorizing the successive renewal of spectrum licenses for frequencies that are already in use by operators, although he clarified that this measure may not completely eliminate the possibility of a judicialization of the issue by telecommunications companies.

“Who has more contracts to win today will surely have an interest in judicialization. Who is not in that situation, will surely want there to be no automatic renewal in order to harm competition. That generates a "lose-lose situation" because whoever wins now will lose when it has to renew," said Campelo.
