SpaceX's project to install seven satellite ground stations advances

SpaceX's plan is detailed in a document from the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications that includes a request submitted by the subsidiary Tibro SPA to install 7 satellite terrestrial stations in central and southern Chile, from which a connection with the Starlink constellation will be established. The project establishes the power to grant satellite Internet to rural or extreme areas that have low connectivity. The terrestrial satellite stations would be established in Caldera and Coquimbo, in the north of the country, Pudahuel in the Metropolitan Region, Talca, Puerto Saavedra and Puerto Montt in the south and Punta Arenas, where the first of them would be built.

The Undersecretary of Telecommunications confirmed during this week that they are already talking with Elon Musk's company through the subsidiary Tibro SPA, and explained that the Starlink subsidiary will soon request an experimental permit to begin testing in the country. The Public Data Transmission Service concession would be valid for 30 years and one of the requirements is that the stations be located outside urban areas.
