Davos Forum: European Union calls on Biden to work on common rules against "the darker sides of the digital world"

In her speech at the Davos Forum, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called on Joe Piden to join forces against "the darker sides of the digital world", which were in part behind the attack on the US Capitol last January 6. "The business model of online platforms has an impact and not only on free and fair competition, also on our democracies, our security and the quality of our information. That is why we need to contain this immense power of large digital companies", she assured.

The official considered that the United States can join the efforts of the 27 countries of the EU to develop a regulation that is valid worldwide. There, data protection, privacy rules and security of national infrastructure would be considered.
