The Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) (Telecom regulator) will review the current charging schemes for the use and exploitation of the radioelectric spectrum authorized for 2021. This was announced when publishing its Programa Anual de Trabajo (PAT) (Annual Work Program) 2021.
This year's collection levels were approved by the Mexican Congress last October and generated strong criticism from both the IFT and the private sector for their high cost.
The IFT also indicated that it will impose obligations on Televisa in pay television for the first quarter of 2022 and plans to have the company's preponderance rules reviewed for the second quarter of that year. Asymmetric regulation will have a 60% advance this year.
The organization will also publish, on a date to be determined, the call and specifications of the IFT-11 Bid to license the use and commercial exploitation of 10 MHz of radioelectric spectrum.
