The data comes from a survey by Telefónica Hispam with its business clients in the region. In the second edition of the Hispam Digital Forum event, Alfonso Gómez Palacio, CEO of Telefónica Hispam, said: "The digital transformation could contribute up to 5.2% of annual growth to the Latin American Gross Domestic Product."
Among the business priorities in 2021, the optimization of digital contact channels predominated, an area in which there is still growth potential: although 86% of corporations have a presence in digital channels, only 30% allow an experience of totally purchase digitally.
On her part, Irene Gómez, Wayra's global director, referred to the state of open innovation or Corporate Venturing in the region. In the last 10 years, the unit dedicated to financing start-ups invested € 16 million in Hispam, in a hundred ventures. There are currently 67 start-ups working with Movistar Hispam, from 20 industries, with approximately 3,500 employees generated by the portfolio.
Among the success stories of Movistar Empresas in Latin America, for Argentina the implementation of the Sub-secretariat of Technology of the city of Buenos Aires was presented: Movistar Empresas installed an Internet of Things solution to locate vehicles, fire trucks and nearest ambulances. For Chile, the 5G pilots were shown between Movistar Empresas and the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications in the Port of Valparaíso (training through Virtual Reality) and Telemedicine, in a Family Health Center (with mammograms connected to 5G).
Meanwhile, the UNAD (National Open and Distance University) of Colombia implemented with Movistar Empresas the Managed Security SDWAN service, Captive Portal for WiFi and collaboration solutions. And the Ecuadorian case of Location World was also shown, a company dedicated to the optimization and management of fleets, which adopted the KITE solution.
