Mintic awards ETB with the contract for Populated Centers

The contract was awarded with the ETB Net Colombia Conectada Temporary Union (formed by ETB and Skynet), which will guarantee the installation of 6,589 Digital Centers in 567 municipalities of 15 departments and Bogotá D.C.

The same is awarded after the one for Populated Centers was cancelled, which led Karen Abudinen, ICT minister, to leave her position due to alleged irregularities in the award of the same.

According to the specifications, the start of the operation phase of the first 1,545 Digital Centers will be next December; but the duration of the project is 10 years and six months of free Internet, so the end date is December 2032.

Regarding the funds allocated as an advance in the previous liquidated contract, Carmen Ligia Valderrama, ICT Minister, indicated: "the coercive collection processes continue and in them we have advanced in the seizure of goods and sums of money of the members of the Temporary Union of Populated Centers of Colombia 2020”.
