Sandra Urrutia Pérez, the new ICT Minister

Gustavo Petro, President of the Republic, finally appointed the head of the Mintic almost a month after assuming the presidency. This is Sandra Milena Urrutia Pérez, who worked in the Comptroller General Office, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce and in private companies such as Movistar. Until now, the Mintic was the only ministry that did not have an assigned head.

The new head is a lawyer, has a master's degree in administrative law and specializes in telecommunications law. Her last position, in which she remained for two years, was legal advisor to the vice minister of connectivity and digitalization of the Mintic.

The person who was going to take the position at first was Mery Gutiérrez, but her appointment fell through because she is the majority shareholder of Programar Televisión, a company that maintains a claim against the State for more than US$10,000,000.
