Anatel to regulate competition in the mobile virtual market

Artur Coimbra, director of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), said that the agency will regulate competition in the market for virtual network operators (MVNOs), based on changes to be made in the General Plan of Competition Goals (PGMC), in addition to adopting asymmetric measures so that new entrants to the mobile market can access spectrum below 1 GHz.

During his participation in INOVAtic Nordeste, Coimbra pointed out that Anatel identified abusive clauses in the contracts between the incumbent and virtual companies, for which reason it was decided that the PGMC will treat the virtual market segment as relevant.
