Telecom sales fell 11.5% in fourth quarter of 2022

They were of the order of $176,778 million, $23,071 million less than in the fourth quarter of 2021, the company reported in its balance sheet for the period, with figures restated for inflation. Telecom registered a net loss in the period of $13.868 billion, which implies a decrease of 180.8%, since in the last quarter of 2021 it had had a profit of $17.161 billion.

Total sales of services fell 12% to $164,038 million between October and December, $22,446 million below the reference record.

From the sale of mobile services, the company generated $73.641 billion, falling 6.1%, with a loss of $4.820 billion, compared to the same period in 2021.

Internet service sales fell 11.6% to $38.5 billion; and sales of Cable Television services slowed down 19%, totaling $30.384 billion. Sales of Fixed Telephony and Data services reached $20.366 billion, with a fall of 23.4%, some $6.341billion year-on-year difference.

From the sale of equipment, the company collected $12.720 billion, 4.7% less ($625 million) than in the same period of the previous year.

Telecom closed 2022 with 20.2 million mobile service customers, 114,000 more than the previous year. Postpaid customers were 43% of the total. ARPU was $1,102.6, an 8.3% less. The monthly Churn was 2.3%, versus 1.5% in 2021.

Cable TV subscribers reached 3.5 million, some 84,000 less year-on-year. The ARPU was $3,006.9 (in 2021 it had been $3,668.3). Churn was 1.3%. As of the end of 2022, Flow's unique customers totaled 1.3 million.

Broadband accesses totaled 4.1 million, 8.5% below the reference period. Broadband ARPU reached $3,052.4, falling compared to 2021 ($3,364.3).

Regarding Telecom's performance in the entire fiscal year 2022, consolidated sales stood at $729.182 billion (-12%). The company suffered a net loss of $205.640 billion, compared to a profit of $19.362 billion in 2021. Revenues from sales of mobile services reached $268.035 billion (-4.7%): mobile Internet sales represented 86% of this total, against 75% of the previous year.

Revenues from sales of cable television services totaled $130.904 billion (-18.6%) and Internet services, $161.740 billion (-8.5%).

The company clarified in its report that the results presented in a comparative manner (compared to December 2021) contain the year-on-year effect of inflation, until December 2022, of 94.8%.

Government analyzes partial privatization of Copaco

Furthermore, the lack of investments led to the obsolescence of its infrastructure. Oscar Stark, president of the firm, states that alternatives are being evaluated to obtain the necessary funds, including the possibility of adding private partners.
