TV Azteca's creditors request application of U.S. Bankruptcy Law

Plenisfer Investments SICAV, from Luxembourg; Cyrus Capital Partners, from the US; and Sandpiper Ltd, from the Cayman Islands, asked a New York Court to apply Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Law to TV Azteca.

The creditors have liabilities of US$ 63.3 million and demand a debt restructuring.

The Mexican broadcaster assured that it is a "minority group" of creditors, that it will keep negotiations open with all claimants for payment, and that it "maintains its normal operations to generate and distribute the best content for the audience."
