The Director of Regulation and Public Affairs of Telefónica Movistar and President of Infraestructura Digital Argentina (IDA) was part of the closing panel of Nplay Southern Cone 2023, yesterday afternoon in Córdoba. He pointed out that the national administration "is making decisions, but it is not taking into account the ecosystem and this may have an impact on the SME world."
At the beginning of his presentation, Lastra lamented the "lack of a long-term plan" and called to "look further and see where we want to be in ten years." He then pointed to the imminence of "a public policy that can do no more harm," in reference to what will be decided around 5G.
"We cannot bring a new technology that is a different concept without seeing the impact it will have on the ecosystem," so he predicted that the authorities would make a false step "if the tender is launched without dialogues."
"There is technology and models for anything. The issue is to discuss them to see how to solve connectivity in Argentina," concluded the Telefónica representative.
As part of the closing panel, the vice president of the Argentine Software Chamber (Cessi), Alberto Patrón, acknowledged the link between the telecommunications and software sectors. "A connected Argentina is what the software sector needs to develop," he said.
"The industry's potential is infinite, only a couple of variables have to be fixed to allow us to export seriously, to go out to contract seriously. For that we are going to need the networks that you give us to get connected, "he expressed.
