Entel announces gradual shutdown of 2G network

Through a press release, Entel announced the gradual shutdown of the 2G network because the telecommunications company will concentrate on developing 4G and 5G networks.

Francisca Florenzano, Entel's Sustainability and Communications Manager confirmed that the network shutdown "will be a gradual and a planned process, which will allow us to minimize any connectivity problems and advance in the process of upgrading our network throughout the country".

Although the 2G network has been forgotten by a large part of the national territory after the advance of subsequent networks, there are close to 100 localities that still depend on this network to communicate.
