The Presidency of the Council of Ministers has published the Supreme Decree approving the Regulation of the Cyber Defense Law, aimed at protecting the country's interests against threats or attacks in cyberspace.
In this way, it ensures that National Critical Assets, key resources, infrastructures, and systems such as telecommunications networks, the internet, devices, software, information, transport protocols, electric power, processors, integrated controllers, and the digital environment in general, continue their operations in the face of potential cyberattacks.
The regulation incorporates the Secretariat of Government and Digital Transformation of the PCM, through the National Digital Security Center, in the stages of protecting critical assets and key resources. Additionally, it reaffirms the need to seek assistance in Peru and abroad in this matter when Peruvian cybersecurity and cyber defense capacities have been overwhelmed.
It also establishes a period of 180 days for the SGTD to issue protocols for scaling, coordination, exchange, and activation of digital security incidents for NCAs and RCs.
The regulation was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, and the National Intelligence Directorate.
