MWC Barcelona 2024

Intel calls for convergence of 5G, AI and Edge Computing to massify 5G private networks

The company jumped ahead of next Monday's meeting with announcements of eight partnerships related to private 5G networks, another topic poised to dominate headlines at MWC Barcelona 2024. Caroline Chan, VP and General Manager of Intel's Network Business Incubator Division, suggested that thanks to a convergence of 5G, AI, and Edge, such deployments will be able to guarantee high bandwidth, low latency, and secure environments, crucial for demanding workloads at the network edge.

An emphasized point by Intel is that over 50% of enterprise segment data will reside outside the cloud by 2025 (Gartner).

Among the mentioned partnerships, Intel will collaborate with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide customers access to Amdocs Mobile Private Network (MPN) services powered by Intel Xeon processors; alongside Aramco Digital, it announced plans to establish an Open RAN Development Center in Saudi Arabia, focused on private 5G for the industrial sector; in collaboration with Nokia, the Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) solution was presented, based on Intel technologies, enabling LTE and 5G networks in industrial systems with real-time data processing, among others.
